It’s likely you’ll find all your answers here but in case you don’t head over to the contact page and shoot me a quick email. I’m always happy to be of assisstance.

Paintings FAQ

All immediately available paintings are listed in my Etsy store. However, many of the paintings listed on my website or social media are also available for sale even though they may not currently appear in the store. Just email me and I’ll be happy to check for availability of any work you might be interested in.

Yes, your work will ship with a proper Certificate of Authenticity with a set of matching numbered holographic stickers. One is located on the Certificate, the other on the back of the painting.

No, my work ships unmatted and unframed. Due to shipping restrictions and complications it is not possible to achieve consistently good results shipping framed works. I recommend that you frame or have your new painting framed after you receive it. Many affordable framing options are now available.

Please do bear in mind that only acid-free backing boards and mats should be used when framing artwork. Do consult a specialist on framing artwork for more information or email me for my recommendations.

While framing a work of art should be considered on individual basis, I think my work generally looks best in a clean, minimalist type of frame. Mat/mount is sometimes not even necessary but can help smaller pieces establish presence, which due to their size they may naturally lack.

Large full sheet works look great with or without a mat/mount, framed in a sleek black frame but color matching frame can enhance the overall experience.

If you’re unsure please contact a framing specialist or ask me about my recommendations.

Watercolor is often considered a fugitive medium. It is, after all, just a piece of paper with some water-soluble paint on it.

However, watercolor painted on a 100% cotton rag paper with Artist-grade paints (which is what I use exclusively) is extremely durable. It may not be as durable as oil or acrylic but that’s mainly due to the nature of the medium: very thinly applied washes without any primer or sealant.

Proper cotton rag watercolor paper is completely acid-free and archival and the paint used is made with the same pigments as oil or acrylic paints. These are the best pigments in the world and many of them are rated for lightfastness up to 200 years. The two main factors destructive towards watercolor are moisture and direct sunlight.

There are three general rules for extending the life of artwork painted in watercolor when it comes to displaying and storage:

1. Don’t expose it to direct sunlight (shaded spot in your home won’t hurt it at all but you can also equip your frame with UV blocking glass for extra protection if your room receives strong sun during the day).

2. Don’t let it get into contact with water. If you must store the work without a frame a clear acid-free storage bag/pouch for artwork is available in most art stores.

3. Whether you have the work framed or you frame it yourself, please make sure all materials used during the process are acid-free (this includes: tape, mat/mount, backing board, etc.). Otherwise, in time, the work is guaranteed to fade and paper to yellow, even though this process takes years.

Most of all, don’t stress yourself about damaging your painting overly. The pigments are durable. The paper is the best there is. Enjoy the painting, even without the best conditions the painting will last you a long time. Enjoy it.

Videos FAQ

All video demonstrations currently available are listed on my Demonstrations page.

At this time video demonstrations for sale are hosted on Gumroad.com. When purchasing any of my videos, the contract is between you and Gumroad.com. Gumroad provides their infrastructure for safe purchase and viewing of my content. Therefore no information related to your purchase is stored on CreativeWatercolor.com. Everthing is handled directly by Gumroad.com.

The checkout process is very straightforward and without the need for an account. You only need to insert your paypal or credit/debit card information and you will be emailed a link to your download.

After completing a purchase you will be offered to create an (optional) account. I recommend this option so that you have easy access to all content purchased from me in the future under a single account.

Starting August 2023 my videos will no longer be available for purchase through Vimeo on Demand. Instead, they’re now available on Gumroad.com.

Vimeo on Demand is a premium service which turned out to be unsustainable due to its high service cost. That’s the reason for change of platforms.

If you purchased a video (only the video demonstration Exciting Color was available on this platform) through Vimeo on Demand you will still be able to view it without change. This change only affects new customers.

First of all, you don’t have to. I constantly work on new content that is freely available. However, my paid videos and books are properly structured as painting lessons. They enable you to better understand and apply painting concepts in your own work. Videos are narrated and fully captioned. Books are comprehensive and carefully structured.

You can also consider them a great way to support me! They cost next to nothing and help you better understand watercolor, especially from creative standpoint. I make sure they are really worth your while.

One demonstration takes up to 1 month to make, so it’s a considerable effort. Writing a books takes me over 12 months to complete. The revenue helps me cover the expenses of making and offering these materials to you.

Since all purchases are handled by their respective platforms no information is stored on my website. For accessing your content you must visit the respective platform.

Video demonstrations are hosted on Vimeo.com. All information about accessing your content is included in your order confirmation email.

At this time purchased videos aren’t available for download. You can view the video at any time but you have to visit Vimeo.com or Gumroad.com depending on where you purchased it.

Demonstrations purchased through Vimeo On Demand remain available to you while they remain on Vimeo. Thus far there isn’t a specific time limit for watching purchased content and unless stated otherwise videos are available with “lifetime access”. Therefore you have access to all purchased videos indefinitely.

In case a demonstration should be terminated, you’ll be given a notice in advance so you have time to watch it again before it goes offline.

You can also contact me and request access to any purchased content should it become unavailable.
