COLOR OF THE MEDITERRANEAN is an advanced watercolor technique painting demonstration. I invite you to join me in my studio as I paint this Italian street scene sparkling with light.
In this demonstration I start without drawing any guidelines on my paper. I start with creating a shadow pattern of my main building, all the while watching my whites. I’m actually more concerned with the negative white shapes than the positive shadow pattern. This shadow pattern helps me “carve out” my whites, that’s why I establish it first. Once that’s done, I start building my painting around this pattern. The rest is easy. I use a very basic complementary color harmony of blue against orange throughout the painting. But I do take care to create variety by using oranges that are more and less intense.
Join me in this relaxing abstract watercolor painting demonstration and enjoy the good vibes of this relaxing watercolor painting.
