A FRIENDLY ENCOUNTER is an advanced watercolor technique painting demonstration. I invite you to join me in my studio as I paint this wonderful encounter of two people meeting in the street on the backdrop of the beautiful historical French town of Saint Paul de Vence.
The gesture of two friends connecting is the at the heart of the painting. While this is a central theme, the visual pattern goes far beyond being a simple backdrop. The rest of the painting is a well thought-out scene in its own right. I explore several watercolor painting concepts in this work, such as: muted color vs. bright color, tonal pattern, light, shadow & shade.
